General
Care of Your Pony Herd
So you want to take the
best care of your pony?
Here are some tips to keep
your ponies looking their best!
Common Pitfalls (ie. don't
do this to your pony!):
1)
Never store your ponies where it gets hot. They will get more age spots
and other nasty things!
2) Never leave saddles and
bridles on your ponies while they are stored. That will give them
saddle sores which look like pink highlighter stains.
3) Never leave your
pony in the tub, or otherwise wet for a long period of time. They will
mildew on the inside, as well as getting rust all over their tail from
the metal washer inside. If you would like to prevent tail rust
forever, please see the Serious Hair Help page.
General Pony Washing Instructions:
1) Rinse your pony in
hot water.
2) Shampoo with Baby
Shampoo or something else mild and not too fragrant.
3) Rinse with hot water.
4) Apply generous
conditioner, something thick and cheap, like Tres Semme. Let sit for a
couple minutes.
5) Comb out any nasty
tangles at this point!
6) Rinse this time with
COLD water and towel dry your pony. Turn it nose up so the tail is the
lowest point and squeeze the pony while using a hand towel to snag any
escaping water.
7) Style your pony's hair
and set it aside to dry in a warm and dry place. Outside in mid-summer
with the humidity is not ideal, nor is the basement. Instead opt for
drying your pony on a windowsill or on the bathroom counter. For
styling tips see the Serious Hair Help page.
